Boards are warm mauve-brown linen cloth, clean and square, with a dark burgundy spine label bearing gilt lettering and the volume number 8 in a gilt box, with decorative gilt ruling bands and the Encyclopædia Britannica crest embossed in gilt at the base of the spine.
