Das Boot (German Edition)

This handsome German special edition (Sonderausgabe) is in very good condition. The pages show light signs of shelf wear yet remain tight and square in their binding. The blue boards are well-preserved. Please note, a dust jacket is not included. This is a 1982 printing of Das Boot by Lothar-Günther Buchheim, published by R. Piper & Co. Verlag, München, printed in Austria. Das Boot is one of the most acclaimed German war novels of the twentieth century, drawing on Buchheim's own wartime experience as a naval correspondent aboard a German U-boat. The novel follows a submarine crew through a harrowing North Atlantic patrol during the winter of 1941, and later inspired the celebrated 1981 film adaptation of the same name by Wolfgang Petersen.
