Hablot Knight Browne, best known by his pen name "Phiz," was one of the most significant illustrators of 19th-century English literature. He is particularly renowned for his long-standing collaboration with Charles Dickens, which spanned nearly two decades. During this time, Browne illustrated ten major novels, including Bleak House. His ability to convey motion, emotion, and satire made his artwork an integral part of the Dickensian experience—so much so that his illustrations became inseparable from the stories themselves.
