Frances Jenkins Olcott was a librarian, writer, and editor known for adapting classic literature and folklore for young readers, making them more accessible while preserving their cultural essence. Edward William Lane, a British Orientalist, was one of the most respected translators of One Thousand and One Nights. His 1838–1840 translation took a scholarly approach, reflecting his deep knowledge of Arabic literature and customs. One Thousand and One Nights is commonly known as The Arabian Nights.
